Who’s Responsible for the Lack of Security at the Capitol January 6 Protest?

On January 5, DC Mayor Bowser wrote in a letter to acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy and acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, in which she requested that officials notify the city and its police department if federal authorities are deployed.

“To be clear, the District of Columbia is not requesting other federal law enforcement personnel and discourages any additional deployment without immediate notification to, and consultation with, MPD if such plans are underway.”

Bowser indicated that MPD “is prepared” for the demonstrations over the next few days and has coordinated with its federal partners, specifically the U.S. Park Police, U.S. Capitol Police and U.S. Secret Service. She noted that these agencies “regularly have uniformed personnel protecting federal assets” in the city.

Here’s a really big problem with this statement. I attended the March to Save America on January 6. Knowing it was likely that 200,000 or more people would attend. Why did the Metro DC Police Department have almost no presence there? I walked south along 15th street from the US Treasury Offices, past the White House and the The Elipse Grounds. When we reached Constitution, we turned right and headed west until we found a place near a jumbo-tron screen and sound system.

The crowd was already massive, at least 300,000. I was very surprised that I only saw less than 10 officers there.

Over the next 2 to 3 hours the crowd grew to at least 500,000.

I’ve been to many conservative/ political rallies and protests over the last decade. This was the first one that had any violence whatsoever. But in every case, Police presence was large and visible.

So, Mayor Bowser’s published statements from January 5 are pure B.S.

It’s important to note that the DC streets are the jurisdiction of DC Metro Police who report to Mayor Bowser. The Capitol Police jurisdiction is strictly the Capitol Building and adjacent Congressional Offices. The Congressional Offices of House and Senate members are connected to the Capitol via underground tunnel. I have been escorted by Congressional staffers through those tunnels during previous visits with my elected officials.

In addition to a lack of DC Police officers on the streets, the number of Capitol Police officers on scene at the Capitol were no more than if it was a normal day. They always increase the number of Capitol Police on scene during big events that are conducted in the vicinity. And, anyone with half a brain knew that the crowd for the January 6th event would be massive.

After the violence began, it was thanks to President Trump and his administration that extra help came to the Capitol Building. President Trump. At 3:36 PM, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany posted…

“At President @realDonaldTrump’s direction, the National Guard is on the way along with other federal protective services. We reiterate President Trump’s call against violence and to remain peaceful.”

Not only did the Trump administration publically call for violence to stop shortly after it started. They deployed the neccessary law enforcement assistance that Mayor Bowser failed to provide.

I have already publically stated in an earlier post, “The Capital Police are supervised by / report to Congress and NOT the Executive Branch. I’m seriously beginning to wonder if not having enough officers to protect the Capital building was a deliberate decision by those in charge?”

So now, Mayor Bowser and other ridiculous members of the American Pravda media are saying that the the police presence was big during BLM protests because of racism. And the lack of DC and Capitol police at the rally was because white people get a free pass.

Mayor Bowser is insisting that Congress must create a commission to investigate the security failures in Washington on January 6th.

Well..  she and Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi office better be a primary focus of that investigation! They were in charge of security at the Capitol buildings and the DC streets.

You can’t make this s#!t up!

  1. our country is in deep trouble and I doubt if is going to get any better since the demon-crats stole the election and virtually every elected official turned against Trump….that is how deep this shit goes. who can believe anything anymore….everyone is a pathological liar.

more grief to come…I’m sure of that.

  2. Just wondering why I am not seeing this on the more conservative media networks. I reside in Canada and wondered why Mayor Bowser and Nancy Pelosi who also would have been informed of possible incitement at the Capital on the 6th are not being held accountable.
